  1. DECADES is a sampler version of the Hulton Deutsch
  2. Decades series of 6 CD-ROMs from Longman Logotron.
  3.  
  4. This sampler is supplied with the read-only version
  5. of the PhotoBase Resource Manager software. The full
  6. version supplied on Decades CDs allows users to 
  7. index their own material on any drive, incorporating 
  8. it with the Hulton Deutsch index if they wish. It 
  9. also allows users to compile and save 'filmstrips'. 
  10.  
  11. Most of the images supplied on this sampler are 
  12. considerably smaller than those on Decades CDs -
  13. typically between 1/4 and 1/3 of the normal size / 
  14. resolution.
  15.  
  16. Decades CDs are supplied on a site licence basis.
  17. Users can copy the images as they wish and install 
  18. the PhotoBase application on any machine on their 
  19. site. The images can be freely printed, used in 
  20. creative work (DTP etc) and for presentations, 
  21. lectures etc.

  24. To use the DECADES SAMPLER double click on the file
  25. 'DecadesRES'. This will load the resources and open 
  26. PhotoBase Resources Window.

  28. EITHER: click on the green button (right) to browse 
  29. the collection OR click on the SEARCH button (top) 
  30. to perform a search.

  32. Search on Keywords by clicking the € column against
  33. any Keyword or selection of Keywords. Click on 'OK'
  34. to perform the search.

  36. View the results of a search by clicking on VIEW or 
  37. INDEX (top) to open either of these windows. Double-
  38. click on any image to view it full size. Click on 
  39. EXIT to return to the View or Index Windows. If any
  40. image is larger than the screen the Hand Icon will
  41. appear coloured. Click on the Hand to open and scroll
  42. the image. Click the middle (menu) button to restore
  43. the Controller.

  45. Perform more complex searches by adding other 
  46. criteria marked with either an & or a X symbol.

  48. Search on other elements in the index by opening the
  49. Search Mode Menu on the Search Window and choosing
  50. 'Word', 'Date' etc. Type in what you wish to search
  51. for on the writable icon, then click 'OK' as above.

  53. Export images to other software from the View Window
  54. by clicking the middle (menu) button over the image
  55. in question. Choose 'Launch' or 'Find' as required.

  57. Create a 'filmstrip' by opening the Film Panel from 
  58. the View Window and dragging images from the View
  59. Window. Click on SEQUENCE (top) to open the Sequence
  60. Window. Re-order the images as necessary and adjust
  61. their display time. Play the 'filmstrip' one-way, 
  62. yoyo or as a continuous loop. Click the middle (menu)
  63. button during play to bring up the Controller for
  64. manual play or (by clicking on either Text Button) 
  65. to display any text associated with an image.
